Smooth Faced Gentlemen

An ALL FEMALE Shakespearean troupe by the name of Smooth Faced Gentlemen did a wonderful production of Titus Andronicus in 2013.  The first all female troupe to do so.  The show toured the U.K. before closing in October.  It just fascinates me that no blood, weapons, or wounds were used in the production. Instead, the actresses used red pain and paint brushes symbolizing death and mayhem.  I love this concept in a whole for the originality for taking a different twist with the gender and violent symbolism to bring the lesser favorited Shakespeare work to life. Productions like these are really paving a way for Shakespeare to be brought to a new audience.
